Minus the slick spin of course

Empty Netters, Pittsburgh Post-Gazette "We've seen this goal before - 2-20-09":
Ovechkin's effort reminded Jay of another goal roughly 21 years ago:

Minus the slick spin of course.

Note to the handful of Capitals fans who may stray here: This is not intended as an insult to Ovechkin. It's quite the opposite actually.

That's what Greg Wyshinski and others are missing, they analyze the goal "Minus the slick spin." Without it, the goal is still "out of the world", like the commentator in a clip is saying, but that slick spin-o-rama that makes it so special.

This goal will stand time, people will remember it forever.

This blog is too much of an ovechkin nuthugging contest for me.

The guy isn't leading in points, so no, he's not the best.

ovechkin's goal was definitely better than that one, so there is no slight taken.

to the above poster ^^^ -
what do you expect a blog titled alex ovetjkin to be about? trashing him? don't come to this site if you don't want to read good stuff about ovie.

AND when is the best player only defined by point total? if points are all that mattered in hockey they wouldn't keep any stats other than points.
i mean you are so right, who cares about goals, hits, takeaways, etc.? why should we even have goalies? they don't score any points.
i will just make up a team of all forwards because they have more points and therefore are better than any defenseman or goalies, so i will win any game!

ugh, learn more about hockey!

so true, plus the best thing is, he'll probably will lead the league in points and we're not talking about bs secondary assists
