NJ 1, Caps 4

Washington Capitals Alex Ovechkin looks for the puck against New Jersey Devils defenseman Johnny Oduya, during the first period of an NHL hockey game, Saturday, Dec. 26, 2009, in Washington.

Ovi's stats:
1 goal, 2 assists, +3, Total ice 18:58, average shift 00:59, 5 shots on goal, 1 attempt blocked, 2 shots missed, 2 hits.

Unusually low ice time and unusually short ice shifts for the first line of Backie, Ovi and Semin. That tells the story: Caps took it after Ovi scored the first goal and squeezed NJ oxygen supply.

Backie had 1 goal, 2 assists, +3 and 3 hits, one more than Ovechkin.

Team Sweden, team Russia 2, team Canada (Brodeur) 0.

Neuvy was downright excellent, his magic glove was dominant. What a nice competition for years to go between Neuvy and Varly.

It was a fantastic game - what you want to see out of the Caps all the time.
