Ovechkin and Kovalchuk at the charity game

Ilya Kovalchuk and Alexander Ovechkin will hold a hockey game for the "From a pure heart" charity on September 5, 2010. The game will be held at the HC Spartacus Sokolniki home arena, according to "Sovietsky sport".
The hockey stars and the veterans of hockey, as well as prominent politicians, businessmen and artists will attend the game. All the details about the time of the game, the lineups and the rules will be announced early next week.
A lot has happened while I was travelling, but our readers, a true Ovi fans, followed all the stories and events. No need for my blog. :-) Thanks to Mikhaila for the blog support, it happened on my birthday, so it was a nice surprise.
And here is the event held by Unified Moscow Dynamo Hockey Club:
The President of Moscow Dynamo and the head of Russian INS Mikhail Tyurkin makes the speech about the unified Dynamo team and the expectations for a new season. After that the new jerseys with the portrait of legendary Dynamo coach Chernyshov were presented to the Captain of Moscow Dynamo Alexei Kudashov and the Dynamo President's advisers Alexander Ovechkin and Alexander Maltsev. (starts at 1:50)
Here's an excerpt from the interview to Sport-Express given at this event:
Do you have plans to return to the Dynamo?
You will get the answer to this question in 11 years.
Will you take the club jersey [presented to you] to America?
First of all I'll ask the guys from the team to sign on it. Then I'll hang it in my memorabilia collection of hockey jerseys.
What have you done already during this summer work for the Dynamo?
Nothing that's worth boasting about. I responded to all requests and was helping my alumni club as much as possible.
You are modest at most. Yet we know that you have financed white 'n' blue's children's school renovation.
Well, is anything wrong about it? I want to help if it is possible.
When are you returning to North America?
In September. The Washington Capitals training camp will open on September 17th.

I noticed that Life.Ru took the "ask me in 11 years" as "in 11 years". Not that couldn't see him doing it, you never know, but I could see him staying in the NHL a bit longer than that. 36 isn't really that old, provided he doesn't get hurt.
Also, training camp opens on his birthday? lol
Also, my mom has the same b-day, I keep forgetting. I'm not sure if I'm bad daughter or bad Ovie fan? lol
Also, I again say it's cool what he did/ is doing for the school.
Oh, that's cool about the game! I wish I could go lol Go team Ovechkin!
Hooray for a new thread!
@Mango: I caught the "11 years" ambiguity too. No one can predict the future, not even Ovie, so he wants to leave his options open with both the Capitals and Dynamo when his current contract expires. Health/injuries will play a huge role in Ovie's decision for sure. I hope the Caps have multiple Stanley Cup wins by then to make his decision easier with no bitter aftertaste.
Caps training camp opens on September 17, Ovie's 25th birthday! At last, the long dark night of the soul with no Ovie/Caps hockey will come to an end in three weeks! I've never been so excited about a hockey team's training camp and pre-season schedule before LOL!
Happy belated birthday, TJ! Here's to a year of wishes-come-true.
Many Caps are already back at Kettler. Nicky said he would return in about a week's time. Rookie Camp starts on Sept. 12, so things are getting back to normal. I wish Ovie would return sooner rather than later. He's captain now and his presence would be good for many reasons.
By age 36, Ovie will still have plenty of NHL records to topple. Hopefully he'll stay as long as NHL teams will have him. I'd feel that he would leave unfinished business if he left early just to play a few years on his old team. Anyway, the KHL keeps showing that they'll take NHL stars no matter their age.
Oops, belated Happy Birthday wishes to TJ!
@O: yes, the possibility of breaking more NHL records will be a huge lure to keep Ovie playing beyond his current contract.
I also second your suggestion that he return to DC ASAP, and not only because he's the Caps Captain now. An early return would be good for him, his teammates, and his fans for many reasons.
But when he returns to DC, the big question will be: is he bring Valeria with him? On that Alex girlfriend's site, there's some major bad stuff about her working for an escort service that was apparently written up in rulife or whatever that mag is. Some say she's still with him, some not. one thing for sure, we'll know soon in DC 'cause they always show his girlfriends in the stands or with him at the Wizards games on TV.
Well, according to the Life.ru mag, "Ovechkin threw beloved" (rough translation by my browser)
I don't really care either way. When he finds someone good, till then, does it really matter? lol
Plus, Life.Ry is pretty bad for honesty. They seem to like to add things into truth.
@BobbyG: Totally w/ you on the multiple Stanley Cups :D
I love that Papa Ovechkin is on the other side Dynamo's head coach
Ovi looks good in blue, but Better in Red
On the subject of going to the KHL, I think if Semin left I think that it would cause problems with him and Ovie.
I'm not sure how bad it would be, I think he'd understand, but if how he reacted to Kozzy and Feds leaving in any indication, he probably wouldn't be too impressed, especially since they've been together for pretty much his NHL career.
I hope neither go for a long time. It would be a shame to lose such talent in the NHL. I'd understand, especially with Semin. Even though he has adjusted quite well and seems to like it there, he has a similar look to how Feds looked sometimes, you know? It seemed like when Sergei talked about Russia or his past, he got a sad look behind his eyes. So I would not be surprised if he went back, just hope he doesn't yet.
I wouldn't be too upset over Kovalchuk leaving though, to be honest. He's a good player and all, but I think this offseason has proven that he's too much hassle for his game. I'm not saying he should go, but I think if he can't handle having a contract that is fair what's the point? I just think he's not worth this much hype. Though, when nothing else is going on, I guess people flow to whatever they can.
Oh, and I forgot to mention in both of my posts, Alex's pants are in a single piece there!!! lol
He also looks quite good there! <3 Sexy Ovie is sexy! ...though looks kinda bored. lol
Also, I love younger Ovie pictures. <3 Skinny, pre-America Ovie is precious!
@Mango,
I have the same opinion as you regarding Kovalchuk. The contract negotiaions have been ridiculous. How many millions does someone need. Wrap it up already.
I love Ovie's intact jeans too. They make his legs seem even looonger.
Also, Sovsport had a photo of be-towelled Ovie with Kovalchuk with their charity game blurb:

Very nice picture. I've seen it before, never fails to keep me happy lol Ilya looks like he doesn't want to be there though, or like "I didn't do it" hmm... j/k
@tj:
Aww, your blog always has a special place in my heart (and browsing history).
Even if there isn't any recent news, look at the amount in the archives. Bound to keep me busy.
@Mango and O: I agree 100% with your comments about Kovy.
@TJ and my fellow bloggers: please allow me to go OT, and please also forgive my lengthy post.
Yesterday (Friday) I had my last chemo treatment. It's time to break out the Haagen-Dazs for an ice cream party. Anyone who wants to join in, please do so. This closes a chapter of my life. After about a month to allow my body to rest and heal, the next chapter--radiation therapy--will begin.
I went out to dinner with my very closest friends to celebrate. They gave me an all-Ovie care package to commemorate the occasion. I got photos, tee shirts, blanket, and 2011 calendar. Now I have everything I need to cheer for Ovie next season.
I have special thanks for my best friend among my gal pals, who I affectionately call the Photoshop Queen. She gave me an album of the most exquisite extraordinary creations of Ovie and me. Bless you Sara for this gift, and for not making fun of my "hobby" LOL.
I also want to shout out thanks to my neighbor for the two head coverings she sewed for me to help camouflage my hair loss. I shall treasure the bright red OVIE 8 and bright blue GO CAPS! caps forever.
Finally, last but certainly not least, thank you TJ and my fellow blog posters for providing a haven, an oasis in the desert. I learned a lot, laughed a lot, from your posts and the links you shared of Ovie photos and videos. I'll never forget your kindness and generosity.

@BobbyG,
Congrats! and continued good luck with your treatments. You are fortunate in your friends.
@BobbyG: Congrats! I really hope everything goes well for you! It's good you have so much support from friends.
My sister just made me a Livejournal post with a bunch of Nikolai Kulemin picutres to make me feel better since I've been stressing out about everything and anything my mind with come across... It's always nice to have people who can make you smile with your love of hockey players- or anything for that matter. It's good to hear you have friends like that too. <3

Different OT:
Here's a video of Backstrom at the Children's Hospital of Gävle, where he gave them 100,000 Kronor (about 13,597 US)from the golf tourny, I believe. It's in Swedish, which I don't speak, but he's freaking adorable to watch anyway. <3

Okay, I'm planning to learn Russian for a number of reasons(heritage, plans to live there, hockey players...), but I may have to also consider Swedish due to the cuties! lol
Sorry for pic/vid spam <3
