How hard Alex Ovechkin shoots the puck?

This is what Sidney Crosby would never be able to achieve even if he'll practice it 24x7, Ovechkin's shot is a God-given talent.

By Lance Hornby, Toronto Sun, Nov. 5, 2010:

Tim Brent felt like he’d been hit in the knee by a sledgehammer and confirmed it when he took off his pad on Wednesday night.

“The whole left shin pad was caved in,” the Maple Leaf centre said in amazement on Friday. “That’s never happened to any of my equipment.”

The damage was courtesy of Alex Ovechkin of the Capitals, the NHL MVP who stepped into a howitzer during a 4-on-3 in overtime. Brent was right in his line of fire.

“Everyone knows he has a bomb and I guess I experienced it first-hand,” Brent said. “My poor knee took it, but it’s one of the things you have to do in overtime. Nicklas Backstrom had the puck and I knew between the two of them they were going to try and get it to Ovechkin. I cheated over there to make sure it didn’t get through me.

“There were a lot of ice bags yesterday, but it’s just another bruise, another war story.”

Here is the tale of dented mask, back in 2007, and Ovi used a wrist-shot!

NJ goalie Scott Clemmensen: "I have been hit in the mask a lot, but never like this. When it hits the wiring, the wiring bents and takes the velocity out of it. I couldn't believe it went in after that."

Here's his another wrist shot captured on YouTube video, these protective plastic covers are built to withstand the puck shots! Let's say average shots, because Ovi is above and beyond the average.

Ovechkin scores on breakaway and breaks the goalcam's protective plastic against Penguins.

Commentator: So much velocity, it breaks the goal cam.

The glut of video evidence on YouTube tells it all. Ovie's shot is the stuff of legend, what Crosby and all other NHL players can only dream about. Ovie is in a class by himself, which is why IMO he is the best hockey PLAYER in the world.
