Our scouting report(wink to BobbyG): according to Ian Oland at RMNB, the dark haired girl in some of the photos riding Ovie's back is Alex Semin's niece, his sister's daughter. And the guy getting the wedgie from Ovie is GM George McPhee's son Graham.

"Well, the atmosphere is great," Ovechkin said. "And it's too bad it was not open practice for fans. But it's good. We have family and friends with us. And we just chill over there before the big game, so it's good."

Wow. There are so many awesome pics and videos available, a real treat for fans to ring in the New Year and the Winter Classic. It looks like Ovie and his teammates had a blast today. Let's hope they CAP off today's festivities with a big win tomorrow. Game time is now 8pm ET.

P.S. I'm glad Ovie's brother Misha has been able to carve out his own path of success. IMO He doesn't seem to get any notice from his parents, who dote on and brag about Ovie constantly. I wish Misha happiness and all the best in life.
It looks like Mikhail can't skate at all. I wonder if he found it difficult being the non-athlete in a family full of them. (At lest he likes to watch sports.)
