Cooke goes after Ovechkin's knee

Mike Green didn't return after being hit to the side of his head with the blood pouring all over to the ice, Mike Knuble's face looked like the one of the UFC fighters, Steckel dropped the gloves with Tim Wallace and Ovechkin was kneed in the waning minutes of the game by, who else, Matt Cooke.

Sounds like a war report? In reality the game had less excitement than the game last Friday, vs. Tampa Bay, but it meant a lot to Capitals. Long gone the domination of Pens over Caps, now it is totally opposite, and it doesn't matter if the game means anything or not, one thing is for sure, the loss stings either team for a long time.

washcaps: POST VIDEO: Ovi on Cooke; Green on Ear; Neuvy on "Shaky"; Laich on Pens

Ovi on used to be buddies with Cooke: "This is how he plays, it's his game. You don't have friends on the ice." Laich sez Caps played 1-2-2, Neuvy reminds me Visigoth's kid from Capital One commercial. :-)

Matt Cooke knees Alex Ovechkin

By Katie Carrera, Feb. 6, 2011, Capitals Insider:

Coach Bruce Boudreau didn't mince words when asked about the hit in his postgame press conference.

"It was Matt Cooke. Need we say more? It's not like it's his first rodeo," Boudreau said. "He's done it to everybody and then he goes to the ref and says: 'What did I do?' He knows damn well what he did. There's no doubt in my mind that he's good at it and he knows how to do it. He knows how to pick this stuff. We as a league we still buy into this that oh it was an accidental thing."

Matt Cooke virtually ended Marc Savard career. Is the league still waiting for him to take someone else for good?

He must be not just suspended, it must be a suspension of gigantic proportions, like to the end of the season, to send a message.

Look at the titles on YouTube:
Matt Cooke
  • ... elbows Keith Yandle in the head
  • ... runs Rick DiPietro 3 times
  • ... injures Andrei Markov
  • ... rails Anisimov
  • ... cheepshotting history
  • ... puts knee on knee hit on Eric Cole
  • ... kicks Chris Osgood
  • ... Cheapshot Artist Extraordinaire
  • ... Gutless
  • ... slew foots Foster
  • ... knees Alex Ovechkin
Matt Cooke has struck more people than the ebola virus. So why wouldn't he get his show?

I'm saddened by the season-ending injury to Malkin. IMO what Cooke did in anger and frustration was a cowardly act intended to end Ovie's season. I wish Geno could have been playing today, and wish him well. As for Cooke, my wish for him can't be posted on a family-friendly blog. :(

@BobbyG: You crack me up with the Cooke comment. I too wish Geno a speedy recovery.

For Cooke, I hope he has a close encounter with a "FLǕGGȦ∂NKđ€ČHIŒβǾLʃÊN" (Eurotrip reference) so he can't sit for a while ;-)

@bwitch16: I don't understand what you wish for Cooke, but I assume it's got to be good, as in very very bad for him personally LOL.

@BobbyG: You need to watch the movie Eurotrip and yes it is. It involves big men in plastic aprons and power tools, and not the kind you use for construction.

Cooke would probably not enjoy it, but on the other hand maybe he would ;-)

League discipline continues to be a joke.
