I think that's partly "this is from the NHL" thing. He's also had a leafs hat!

Needs to improve his sabre-wielding technique. ;)

Even in that early blurred and faded photo, Ovie's eyes stand out. Even then, his intensity, focus, and passion are evident. Even then, he commands and demands our attention.

William Wordsworth was absolutely correct: The Child is father of the Man.

I know this is OT but it must be said, given what today's Memorial Day holiday means or is supposed to mean.

I want to thank my late father for his sacrifice and service to this country. Not a day goes by that I don't think about him and my late mother and the sacrifices service men and women and their families have to make for the greater good. I also want to thank all veterans and those still serving. I want them all to know how much I appreciate them and their devotion to this great country.

I hope all readers of this blog had a safe and meaningful Memorial Day weekend.

I think I first saw that picture on a web site that has childhood pictures of NHL players.

Bet the Sabres wish that they had that kid.

Well, we had our own Alex the Great in Buffalo in the early 90's! :)

I love this picture so much, there is also another photo of him in this jacket shown in that video where he gives out part of his phone number. I was a bit surprised when I saw it because I never heard him talk about following the Sabres at all when he was little. There is the Mogilny factor of course but I've never really heard him talk about him that much.

While I would love Alex to play for the Sabres, I would feel horrible about taking him away from Washington. But it still makes me smile that he sported the blue and gold when he was little! :)

As the first anon mentioned. Ovi in Leafs gear. Also said Owen Nolan was a favourite of his, especially his physical play.

I'm also willing to bet he was a Detroit fan at some point!
