Ovechkin at Kuznetsov's wedding
According to Chelyabinsk.ru 'legendary' Alex Ovechkin flew to Chelaybinsk for Washington Capitals prospect Evgeny Kuznetsov's wedding. Evgeny Kuznetsov has married Anastasia Zinov'yeva today. The ceremony was held at HC Traktor arena (watch video http://chelyabinsk.ru/weekend/400298.html). Among the guests was Mayor of Chelyabinsk Sergey Davydov. Around 150 invited guests went to restaurant Beryozka afterwards to celebrate it.
Chelyabinsk.ru reports that Ovi landed in Chelyabinsk around lunch time and went directly to a wedding banquet at restaurant Beryozka.

Wasn't it about this time last year Ovie went to a friend's wedding in Moscow and Semin was with him? I joked at the time Sasha Minor was Ovie's man date LOL, so I wonder if it was the same this time. There were also jokes about Semin's wardrobe, or at least the outfit he wore, it was jeans and tee shirt, wasn't it? There was also mention that one of the gifts to the bride was a purse or handbag of some kind, and whether either Ovie or Semin was the one who gave the gift. I wonder what Ovie selected this time.

They gave the couple money last year. Seems to be a Russian thing to give money at weddings.
It is nice that Ovie showed up, but I can't help feeling part of the purpose of the invite was a publicity manouver on the part of Traktor's owner.
(I'll skip the beach pics. I prefer the shirtless, sweaty gym pics.)
@O: Anything involving shirtless Ovi and wet, whether sweaty or in the water will do it for me. Come on baby, bring on the pictures ;-)

@O: thanks for the reminder about the Ovie's and Semin's wedding gift of money last year. I finally found the story on this blog's archive, it was good to refresh my memory. Someone else must have given the purse.
Oh, and on second thought I also recall posting on RMNB some time ago that instead of Ovie beach photos or cavorting on a yacht in a Speedo, I'd rather see him running or working out in a gym. And for exactly the reason you gave: glistening sweaty sexy Ovie! Is it getting hotter in here, or is it just my imagination? LOL :)
OK I'll settle in and have some popcorn if Marge will share as we wait with bwitch and anyone else interested in joining the Ovie watch waiting for the requested pics. In the meantime, it's BYOB Saturday, so I think I'll fix myself an Osaka Dry, heavy on both the vodka and sake, as I try to cool off. BOOM!
As I understand it, Ovechkin was only at the private reception at the hotel, which no media was at. He didn't go to the ceremony at the arena, that I know of. So there probably wont be pictures, unless someone took them there and post them. Not impossible.
Don't know much more than that though. Except the couple are so cute and look legitimately in love. Hope it works out for them.

@Mango, O, and TJ: Please help! I can't get the photo links to work. TJ, Could you post the pics directly on your blog to make viewing easier? Please? And what's up with the Green Card story in one of the Anonymous posts? I'm not familiar with US immigration laws, so I'm confused as to how this affects Ovie's current status.

Yes, the Emily who posts here is the very same Emily B who posts on Japers. Initially, she used to post at Japers under the name 'Our Nations Capital'. She had occasionally made reference to herself as "Field Reporter Emily" for this blog.

I haven't looked at whatever link you are referencing, but every year the players have to renew their work visas so they can work in both the U.S. and Canada. He is either going through that process again or trying to get a permanent (immigrant) worker status, since he signed a long contract, which takes away alot of the hassle. Unlike the yearly renewals to work, a green card is renewed every ten years.
@Diane: thanks for confirming what I already assumed about EmilyB.
@O: the confusion I had was with the convoluted (as usual) Google translation of the Ovie green card story. What you said also confirmed what I already assumed Ovie was doing with his visa.
BTW, I found the two Ovie photos elsewhere. Mango's links still don't work for me. And IMO Ovie's new tee shirt with Kuznetsov's signature is a HUGE improvement over the majority of tees in his wardrobe, especially the Virgin Mary and Streaking Females LOL.
Oh and O, Ovie already sent those flowers to me. I'd post pics but I'm not into that sort of thing. :)

Agree on most of his t-shirts lately. I prefer the Cookie Monster and Magic 8 Ball shirts (or plain colors).
