Riots in Vancouver

From RT:
Angry, drunken revellers ran wild on Wednesday night after the Vancouver Canucks' 4-0 loss to Boston in Game 7 of the Stanley Cup finals, setting cars and garbage cans ablaze, smashing windows, showering giant TV screens with beer bottles and dancing atop overturned vehicles. Later, looters smashed windows and ran inside department stores. There were no immediate indications of injuries, although images were shown on television of at least one woman mopping blood from her forehead. Vancouver Mayor Gregor Robertson praised the police and firefighters and asked people to stay away from the central downtown area. Tear gas mingled with the stench of acrid smoke and stale beer as riot police, truncheons drawn, moved in to quell the violence, pushing crowds away from the burning cars. Later, police cars also were set on fire.
I have nothing against Vancouver Canucks, I am just happy for Boston Bruins and my favorite (after Ovi) NHL player Zdeno Chara. He is the second European Captain after Niklas Lidstrom to win the Stanley Cup. So much reward for the last year humiliation, leading series 3-1, leading game 7 3-0 and being eliminated. "Success is how high you bounce when you hit the bottom." said General George S. Patton and here is the hope to the Washington Capitals to follow Boston Bruins example.
Let Alex Ovechkin be the third European Captain to win the Stanley Cup!
DC Sports Bog:
Before Game 7 ended the NHL season, Bruce Boudreau talked to WTOP’s Jonathan Warner about the final game of the hockey season.
When asked whether the Bruins’ rebounding from 2010 playoff heartbreak could become a rallying cry for the Caps.
“Our cries, we’ve got a lot to pull from as far as next year goes,” the coach said. “We’ll find some really good ways to motivate them. But I’m sure every player’s watching the playoffs now and we’re all kicking ourselves that we’re not there, because we believe that we’re close to being there.”

I won't group those rioters with all Canucks fans. IMO they are just troublemakers looking for an excuse to behave badly. Too bad they give real fans a bad rap.
I also am a huge fan of Zdeno Chara. I saw an interview with him when he was asked how he prepared to be the Bruins Captain. He said he called Al Arbour, and Arbour advised him to just be himself and allow himself to grow into the role.
Chara said he followed that advice, and the most important thing is he tried to not set himself apart from his teammates. He didn't want them to think that he was better or thought he was better than they were just because he wore the C.
There was some talk about the turning point in the Finals, and the Rome hit on Horton was brought up. Between periods Chara spoke up and took control of the room, rallying his teammates to move forward to accomplish their goal, and not let anyone or anything get in the way. It sounds simple and basic, but it turned out great given what the Bruins accomplished this year.
