Ovechkin explains the whole situation?
Mike Vogel sits with Ovi and talks about summer vacation, trades and Ovi's off-season training.
When this video was made?
ovi8: Yes babe!I'm in dc!!!!!! - Friday, July 08, 2011Probably Saturday, July 9, 2011. Vokoun was signed July 2nd and Ovi was in Moscow when it happened.
ovi8: Guys I'm going back to moscow!ill text soon! P[l]ease!!! - Saturday, July 09, 2011
ovi8: I'm in moscow! - Sunday, July 10, 2011
Mike Vogel: So a couple of months of summer left. How do you spend a rest of your summer? How your training program changed or evolved since you came in the league 6 years ago?
AO: I was here, I talked to Nemo [Caps' strength and conditioning coach Mark Nemish - tj] and I explained the whole situation, I talked to Bruce I talked to George and explained the whole situation, so I probably gonna start training like right away when I come back to Moscow.
It's gonna be tomorrow... not tomorrow, probably like Wednesday or Thursday and... I don't wanna... the situation has changed and I don’t want to say about it, I don’t want to talk about it, but I’m gonna decide on some little things, but don’t worry; I’m gonna be in good shape and I’ll be ready for the year because this is a very important year for Caps and for me, too.”
I am a bit worried. He had to explain the whole situation? Sounds like Ovi doesn't have a detailed plan and a fitness coach for now. And it's harder to train on your own, even for athletes like Alex Ovechkin. BTW, Crosby skates for the last couple of weeks already. In his 6 years in the league Ovi never started on ice training before August, so it's not a big deal, just sayin'.

TJ, are you a bit worried, or do you think it's not a big deal? Frankly, I'm confused because Ovie sounds like he's either waffling or spin doctoring in advance of whatever training plan and schedule he comes up with.
I listened to the video and I was wondering if he was talking about some kind of injury, or if by "the whole situation" he might just be talking about his plan, and nothing more than that. It might just sound worse than it is.
(Also, as for his tweet, I think by "pease" he means "peace," not "please." But who knows?
It's please... not peace... I have a source, but I don't wanna explain the whole situation :-)
i really hope ovie works whatever he needs to out. He's such an awesome player and i miss the one who was so electrifying ( not that he isnt right now but not at the level he used to be.).
To me, he looks as though he is serious about his training but only time will tell. he's such an inspirational player too so im really hoping for the best
I was more than worried... I freak out when I saw the video ahahhhaha! I think Nemish and Bruce had a serious talk with Ovi and that's why he is going to start early and maybe that's why he was at the rapid shot place or was that before or after this new video?
Anyways, Crosby training is not a surprise since he was out for a long time. Geno also started to train early.
BTW, I think is "Peace" not "please." He always says peace at the end of a cool video, but if it's not then I'm just going to pretend that it is "Peace" :)
I keep hearing from more hockey players that they feel they are more prepared and last longer when they get on the ice sooner instead of later when they train. I think the training culture is changing and old ideas are going away. Hope Ovi pays attention.
i think everyone needs to chill out and just enjoy your off season. PEASE!
I thought blog posts are a way of engaging others in converstation. So when a question is asked it's reasonable to expect an answer or at least an acknowledgement of the post. When it doesn't happen, I begin to ask, what's the point?
Also, part of engaging others in converstation is to recognize some posters have concerns and want to express them. It isn't necessary to dismiss those concerns just because you don't share them.
Maybe I've got it all wrong all along, this blogosphere virtual reality world, and it's time to move on. :(
Is it a question to me? Like I said, I am a bit worried because it's hard to work on your own w/o personal trainer. Can it be done? Yes, it can.
@tj, but Emily posted a photo of Ovi in the comments section yesterday at Japers' where it showed Ovi running on a treadmill with a trainer next to him. So he is working out with someone.
Personally, I think Ovi has been working out hard and has a plan but is trying to be evasive because he wants to surprise everyone and/or doesn't want the competition to be aware of what great shape he's in.
I think people need to stop telling other people how they should think/feel. We all have different opinions from time to time, not all are as valid or well-informed, but they shouldn't always be dismissed out of hand. They can add interesting insight and depth to discussions.
After last year, people certainly have valid concerns that Ovie could start the season out of shape again. We heard back in June that Backstrom, Semin, Carlson and important players on other teams started training hard off and on the ice, but Ovie came out and said he was sticking to his old timetable.
It is reasonable to question if he is doing what is necessary to prepare for the season. It doesn't mean we are picking on him or care for him less or wish him ill.
Yes, there are a couple photos now showing him at a gym, but this is about the same time he started last year. Will it be enough? Is he training the right way? Is he training a better way than last year?
McPhee seemed to think Ovie and the others need to step it up in preparedness and leadership, so let's see him step it up in the summer. Summertime lays the groundwork for the season.
How do we know that "the Situation" isn't a discussion of Jersey Shore? ;P
@TJ: yes, and it's not the first time my questions weren't answered
Oh and ^^^ everything O said. MY OPINION and I don't give a **** who disagrees or not!
