Ovechkin's Brabus in Russia

According to Paparazzi.ru and our field reporter Emily Ovi shipped his Mercedes-Benz S 65 AMG to Russia. I should've known it if I paid attention. :-) He was driving this car when he went to Afinogenov's wedding on July 16th...

First time I saw it, I was wondering why it looked like US license plate. On a second look... it is! Virginia! Ovi is (or was) driving in Moscow with American license plate. LOL.

Emily found this tweet dated July 4th:

Douglas Sonders
In other news: I'm babysitting Caps player Alexander Ovechkin's Braubus S65 today

One would wonder how much Ovi paid for shipping.

Shipping car to Russia:
Call directly Long Beach port and deal directly with them. 925 Harbor Plz. Long Beach , Ca 90802. Their phone number (562)437-0041. Will coast you around 1300.-1500 $. GOOD LUCK ! Thats what i'm going to do.Planning to ship 2 cars to Peter myself.

$1,500? That's cheap. Ovi probably paid 3 times more to bring his German shepherd Ghera to the States.

I wonder if he is making room in VA for a new car...

I don't see the point. It is one of his favorite cars to use/share with his father in the U.S. and he already has 3 cars in Russia. The BMW was his car of choice in Moscow.

I did notice that the plate was different than the classic long european plates.

huh. You know, I did not even notice after looking for a second. It's like when a friend came from Ukraine with Ukraine plate and I never noticed in so long that it wasn't Canadian plate!

I was so used to seeing both I forget sometimes they don't belong in both places! Even one of my dad's cars has European plate, but he doesn't take it out because I think he got a ticket, but doesn't want to get a new plate for spare car. It costs over 60$ to get sticker every year for the plate, so he keeps the European one on.

It's weird that he shipped it when he has other cars in Russia. Maybe he wants a change? That car in Russia and one of his Russia ones for America? Test them on different roads!

One wonders how much getting the car to California and then from whichever Russian port to Moscow added to the shipping.
