Ovechkin at Andrei the Red Head birthday party

From MainPeople.ru:

Andrei Grigoriev-Apollonov, a singer, an actor and a showman from the Ivanushki band, celebrated his 41st Birthday at Casino restaurant in Moscow on August 9, 2011.

Starting from eight o'clock in the evening, Andrei, together with the beautiful wife and two sons, was greeting his birthday guests. Despite the summer vacation time, a lot of capital's renowned celebrities came to congratulate the Ivanushki's Red Head.

That evening the fun at Casino restaurant lasted until late at night, and everyone knows how Grigoriev-Apollonov can party. The sea of smiles, a river of champagne and a huge "red" cake, Happy birthday, Andrei!

Update:
Turned out Ovi was at the birthday party for only 30 minutes, as reported by KP.RU. Sounds like he is really on the mission, training hard for the upcoming season.

Look at this cake!

Viva our reader BobbyG for the link!

Was it last year when Ovi was at Andrei's party and someone presented Andrei with live red head lamb?

Ha, I see the Virgin Mary t-shirt has come out of the closet again LOL. Oh Ovie, those sweat pants...only you can get away with wearing an outfit like that. :)

And Ovie...how about removing your shirt the next time someone points a camera in your direction.

Ovi looks good, but he should get rid of those pants. Actually, they look comfy but still.

That cake looks really pretty, I wouldn't want to eat it. Ovi has awesome friends. I don't really listen to it anymore, but I used to like Andrei's music. Probably still have an Ivanushki cd back in RU. (You can all laugh at me, at least I like other music too.)

That jacket is in major need of an iron.

The sheep was at least 2 years ago.

Please tell me this is not true!!!

Why panic? Rumors are rumors. The Caps are more stacked at defense than they've been in over a decade. If Semin is replaced, then his scoring has to be replaced. Common sense.

@Devi: I think the leafs would like him in theory, but they don't really have a place for him in their game plan since he would be short-term, they need to develop their long-term players in top-6 positions.

.: It wont happen. And McPhee wouldn't make a high-scoring trade for an unproven D-man. The Caps need Semin to balance out the lines and even the scoring. They are strong in the defence. (despite what people say)

Yeah, I hope you all are right and this is only a rumor that will never come true.

BTW, there are so many stories about Ovie right now. One is about who is the number one athlete in D.C. The other one is about the coach saying that Ovie will be a better captain and there is also one about the "Raising hope" sitcom.

There is also a Nicky interview, but I can’t find it.

Devi, also arguing against the Caps trading Semin is he becomes a UFA at season' end when his contract expires. Any team interested in him only has to wait until then to make him an offer without having to give up any assets to the Caps. And the Caps would want a roster player for him to compensate for losing the scoring he provides. The Caps are in a win-this-season mode, so draft picks and prospects won't be appealing as trade bait.

Devi, here is a translation of the Nicky interview.

The same blog also has a nice post of Nicky, MoJo, and Mattias skating with their former SEL teams.

Here's a nice pic I got from Japers that Emily made comparing Ovi of last year versus this year. Definitely looks like he weighs less.

Thanks for the link AB.

It sure does look like Ovie has taken his offseason training a lot more seriously this year compared to last year. And as TJ noted in his update, Ovie only stayed at the birthday party for 30 minutes which is quite extraordinary when we compare his behavior now to what went on last summer.

As I also noted in another thread, Ovie is taking steps to be a better Captain. I suggest reading Tarik-El Bashir's column in today's Capitals Insider which describes Ovie's meeting with Coach Boudreau when Ovie was in DC last month. Ovie comes across as really committed and dedicated to being a better leader this season.

Go Ovie!
