Caps 1, Jets 4 (video update)

What the difference a good knowledgeable hockey fan crowd could make? You saw it today, with that crowd Atlanta could probably had a Stanley Cup already. You could see the crowds' energy flowing into Jets players, unbelievable...

Caps lost undeniably to Jets, who were a better team tonight.

Ovi, Halpern, Alzner talk to the media after the game

The good news is Ovi had a lot of chances, it's a good sign...
Ovi's stats after the 1st:

total ice time 05:20, 8 shifts, average 00:40, PP 01:29, even 03:51, 1 shot on goal, 2 missed

After 2nd:
total ice time 12:49, 15 shifts, average 00:51, PP 04:53, even 07:56, 4 shots on goal, 2 missed

Final:
total ice time 18:12, 20 shifts, average 00:54, PP 05:11, even 13:01, 5 shots on goal, 2 missed

Only Marcus Johansson had more ice time at even strength (13:26) than Ovechkin among forwards. Still, BB needs to give more to Ovi to make him going. The superstar needs the ice time of a superstar...

@2:00 Boudreau:
I don't wanna talk about Alex tonight. I mean, everywhere we go, people ask me the same question, I just don't wanna talk about him tonight.

Uh-oh, something is brewing...

Ugh! What an ugly game. Sure, the Peg crowd was juiced and the Jets deserved to win this game. They outplayed and outworked the Caps. There simply is no excuse for such a lethargic non-effort they displayed tonight. Why is it a team with so much talent can look like amateurs on some nights? Is it lack of motivation? Is it because they've tuned out their coach? This team right now is like a rudderless ship, with no leadership or focus. Something has to change--attitude, personnel, collective mindset, something. Nip this in the bud while it's still November, or else I see a perfect storm on the horizon when the Caps hit the playoffs and run aground again.

As for Ovie, the mystery of what will break him loose out of his slump continues. Maybe he needs to consult a sports psychologist to discover what baggage he's still carrying around and how to get past it and move on. Something is bothering him IMO, and the sooner he can find out what that is, the sooner he'll be able to get back on track. If Ovie wants to lead the Caps by example, he has to do whatever it takes to find his game and enjoy playing it again. I hope he finds his way out of the darkness soon.

Ice time is a red herring. It is not the solution to Ovi's scoring problems.

The whole team appears to be down, depressed, no energy, even before the puck drop.

As for Bruce's comments about not wanting to talk about Ovi there is no need to build a conspiracy. I regularly have the same thoughts. The media asks the same things ALL THE TIME and they ask about Ovi ALL THE TIME. They need to switch it up. Ask about other players and things. That's what Bruce was saying. He was probably also indicating that unlike the media's obsession he doesn't think there is much if anything wrong with Ovi.

@O: I agree, it was a bit of making up something that doesn't exist. On the other hand, BB and Ovi go thru a new phase of dealing with each other, you never know what's gonna happen.
