Another OT Game Winning Goal by Ovechkin

Bolts 2, Caps 3.

How shweet! Ovi scores in OT.

Since his debut in the NHL in 2005-06 Ovechkin scored 12 OT goals, more than any other NHL player.

This was one of the worst games by Ovechkin that I have ever seen. He was trying hard, maybe too hard, and was a fraction of a second behind for the most part of the night, making wrong decisions all the time. It was horrible to watch, but at the end Ovi did his magic again.

And that is what it counts, right? Hopefully it will give Ovi and Caps an emotional lift that is needed so bad now.

Ovechkin's stats:

1 goal, +2, total ice time 22:02, 22 shifts, average 01:00, PP 02:33, even 19:29, 5 shots on goal, 6 attempts blocked, 3 missed, 6 hits, 1 giveway, 1 takeaway, 1 blocked shot.

Check this out, he fired 14 shots! like in good old times!

He even crashed the glass like in good old times!

I believe Sam got to watch this game too or am I wrong? If he did then I would really love to see his reaction to the OTGWG just like Roberts' against the Islanders.

Really? Worst game play? I didn't like him trying to block the puck with his face on the ice, and he really needs to be more selfish and shoot more sometimes, but I thought he had some gorgeous passes that his teammates didn't bury. And that's not really all on Ovi; that's equally on his teammates for not finishing.

I don't think he played lights-out, but he had, like, six shots and not as many horrible defensive lapses/turnovers/invisibility factors as he's had in other games this season, so I'm really surprised to hear his play in this one labeled as bad. Plus, his GWG was really great work with his teammates.

But, then, everyone sees the game different, I guess!

Yes, he had a lot of moments, but he was a fraction of a second late, or making a wrong pass... If it would be in his prime times, he could've score a hat-trick today. Maybe I exaggerated a bit about the worst game, but this is what I felt when I was watching it. Agreed, everybody sees is different.

There was one particular in the third when he got free from d-man, could've shoot, instead gave pass back to Carlson. Again, in his prime he would never do that.

I would not say it was his worst game, nor would I say it was his best game. I was though very proud of him there at the end of the first blocking shots even going down to the ice to do it. It felt like one of those my little boy is growing up and playing defense moments of proudness. The second was horrible and then in the third they turned in on a bit. They say Hunter gave a very good speach in the locker room and it involved we need to be a team. Glad they took it to heart. Maybe they can keep it going the rest of the season.

I can not tell because I wasn't able to watch the game until the last minutes of the third and the OT, but I heard that some people were complaining that Ovi was giving the puck to much instead of shooting.

It doesn't make sense to me because I thought people wanted him to do something different and to be a little bit less "selfish."

Right, but in the case with Carlson it was absolutely unnecessary. He gave pass when he was in much much better position than John Carlson, who is also not a forward and not a scorer like Ovi. Besides, there was nobody in fornt of Ovi for a moment, Carlson had a d-man in front.

That's why I was frustrated and called it the worst Ovi's game, he was making wring decisions. ANd when he could shoot, he'd wait a tad more and opponent would block it.

I just hope that this OT goal will revive Ovi, his timing and the sense of the game.
