Caps prospect Kuznetsov is likely to stay in Russia

SportExpress.ru, March 15, 2012:

The KHL's rising Star and the leader of the HC Tractor Yevgeny Kuznetsov is very likely to remain in our league next season, writes Sport-Express reporter Igor Larin.

"Frankly I've made a decision to pursue my career in the KHL," said the 19-year-old to Igor Larin during the KHL-TV "The Icing Show" which will be aired tonight. "At the same time It is not completely clear yet with which hockey club I will continue my career."

I wouldn't be surprised if he stays in Russia, money-wise and ice-time wise Kuznetsov is better off in KHL. Add to this his early marriage with a probability of having a baby soon and it is clear that staying in Russia requires much less effort and gives more stability to him.

On the other hand, Igor Larin has a "reputation", so until we see that video from KHL-TV's "The Icing Show" it is too early to consider it is 100% true. Besides he can change his decision as many times as he wants.

Somehow I think if Kuzya already decided to stay in the KHL next season then he wouldve said it but him saying he already made a decision but waiting until the summer to announce points to the NHL, but we will see.

Incredibly disappointing to me. Sadface.

I think his marriage has changed his plans completely. He said several times that he wanted to play in the NHL.

Why have a Russian "superstar" captain if he can't assert his influence here and get a kid to come play on HIS team. This is yet another OV shortcoming.

@Anonymous,

And the potential to make millions more in the KHL while being treated like a rock star doesn't come into play?
